Creating sketches of user interfaces and user interactions on paper (or a whiteboard etc) has been a trick of the trade for both designers and usability experts for decades. Of course, us computer geeks have often opted to use PowerPoint, Visio or even the WinForms designer in Visual Studio to digitalize this process. Lately however, we've seen more specialized tools emerge, like Balsamiq Mockups and the forthcoming SketchFlow in Blend 3.
At the next NNUG meeting in Stavanger, on the 10th of June, I'll be giving a lightning talk about digital paper prototyping, looking at different ways to make such prototypes and what the benefits of doing them are.
Also at this event, MVP Lars Wilhelmsen will be talking about the Oslo platform, Glenn Henriksen about mocking in unit tests, and Niall Merrighan about avoiding common programming mistakes.
Balsamiq has also been kind enough to donate a licence for their Mockups tool, which we'll hand out to one lucky, random attendee - so head over to the NNUG site to sign up now!
